W&F Issue 12 2018

www.wealthandfinance-news.com 6 Wealth & Finance International - Issue 12 - 2018 Established in 1999 – on the cusp of the new millennium - RPG Wealth have credited their enduring success to a steadfast commitment to client service, ensuring that every decision considers the financial and personal impact on the client. Today, their peers and competitors are realising, too late perhaps, that potential clients expect independent solutions that are tailored to their individual needs. This is the crux of modern business: people have become accustomed to technological conveniences and instead desire human-driven expertise and experience. As John explains further, this is an approach that RPG Wealth have mastered over their almost two decades of operation. “We are a staunchly independent practice with Director-led advice provided in each of our three offices. We were one of the first firms in Wales to achieve Corporate Chartered Status and work hard to maintain this. We operate with an administrative hub in St Asaph supporting our three advisers. RPG was established to meet the demand for high quality, independent financial advice from our accountancy practice client base as well as from a broad range of professional introducers. We offer full financial planning along with bespoke project work.” John continues, outlining the firm’s ethos: “Our overall mission is to deliver high quality, independent financial planning advice across our entire client base. We continually look for ways to improve our offering and service level and aren’t afraid to make wholesale changes.” The UK’s financial planning sector is, by any metric, a competitive environment, with promises of upheaval in the form of comprehensive regulatory changes in the near future. Despite this, John emphasises that RPG’s internal culture and eagerness to adapt strengthens the firm’s position as it moves to tackle these changes. “We don’t see challenges, only opportunities. Philip Owen, one of the founders of the practice, has an insatiable and infectious thirst to continually improve, and this filters down through the whole team.” Continuing in the same vein, John touches for a moment on the future of RPG Wealth itself, “We have already earmarked our key changes for 2019 and beyond. We will continue to invest in both people and IT and believe that we will achieve our targets through organic growth working closely with our accountancy practice.” As we come to the end of the interview, the topic moves to discuss RPG’s award win in more detail. “We are delighted. Cash flow planning has been at the core of our practice for almost 20 years. We are firm believers that you cannot properly complete a financial plan without a cashflow.” Finally, John comments on the importance of industry awards for SMEs: “In an age where qualifications, offerings and services are converging, having external validation of our approach to financial planning is key and ultimately what sets us apart from our competitors.” With offices in London, Manchester and North Wales, RPG Wealth has built an impressive reputation on the back of independent and reliable financial advice. In late October, RPG was recognised in Wealth & Finance International Magazine’s Winners’ Review programme as the ‘Best Cash Flow Financial Planning Specialists in Wales’. We spoke with RPG’s Head of Investment Research, John Sangster, who offered some insight into the firm’s ethos, culture and operations.
